Mark Allan Horyna, 68 years young, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, Kansas.

He was the son of Ben and Lucille (Williams) Horyna and was born July 8, 1951 in Caldwell, Kansas.

He and Rhea Roberts were married August 20, 1971 in Argonia, Kansas. To this union were three children; Brett, Krystal, and Andrea.

Mark loved to spend time with his wife Rhea, family and friends, garden, golf, and teach his Sunday School Class. He said he never worked a day in his life- he loved teaching so very much.

He was a friend, a resource, a mentor, a helping hand, and an ear to listen.

Mark graduated from Butler County Community College, Northwestern State University in Alva, and went on to earn his Masters in Counseling from Fort Hays State University. He was a proud School Board Member, a Mason, member of the United Moscow Methodist Church, and a Lion’s Club Member.

Rhea, Brett, Krystal, Andrea, and family....
Many emotions have overcome me the past few hours, as word of your incredible husband and father had passed into his heavenly home. While he taught many children of Moscow, he was an incredible teacher and inspiration to myself and others just starting in the profession. His belief in making a connection with students and athletes, treating them like they are your own, carried with my journey as an educator since those days...I will always treasure my early, formative teacher years with Mark, someone I consider a true friend...
May you find peace knowing he was loved by so many...
Prayers sent to you all....

I only met Mark once-- when he was a child. My brother Stan said how much he and Sonja appreciated Mark's coming to their 50th wedding anniversary celebration.

Our heartfelt condolences to Mark's wife and children,

Sharon (Horyna) Hauge & Paul Robbins
