Alan (Marty) Jackson Martin III of Richmond, VA passed away unexpectedly while working in Hugoton, KS on September 10th, 2024.

Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Alan Jackson Martin, Jr. and Anne Ward Martin. As well as a beloved grandson, Ryan Martin and niece Erin Hope Martin.

He is survived by the love of his life, Dorothea. His son Christopher Martin (Lauren), grandchildren: Brianna Farrell (Zack), Alexis Martin, Isabelle Martin and Luke Martin. Great grandchildren: Ella and Elijah Farrell. Siblings: Celeste Riddle (Stan), Jeffrey Martin (Beth) Nieces & Nephew: Sarah Reamer, Hannah Summer, & Andrew Martin. As well his father’s wife, Pat.

Marty was an Army veteran, and he completed his education at Lenoir-Rhyne University. He was an entrepreneur who started many companies in process controls solutions and was very respected in his field of work. Until his passing, he was a consultant with Seaboard Energy.

Marty held a private pilot’s license and had enjoyed his time in the air. He loved cooking and enjoyed sharing that passion with family and friends. He loved to travel and enjoyed playing golf. He was especially dedicated to his neighborhood and The West Avenue Improvement Association where he had served as Mayor and was the Communications Officer for many years. He found pleasure in working crossword puzzles.

A memorial service will be planned in Richmond in the near future. In lieu of flowers it is asked that donations be made to the Richmond Animal Care and Control Foundation; Historic Richmond or The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.
