ALETHA HENRIETTE (WOODS) MOON
Aletha Henriette (Woods) Moon, 93, Hugoton, Kansas, died Friday, June 9, 2017, at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal, Kansas.
The daughter of Bruce & Jewel (Posey) Woods, she was born January 7, 1924, at Colorado Springs, Colorado.
She and Warren Moon were married June 19, 1949, at Colorado Springs, Colorado. She moved to Stevens County in 1949 from Colorado Springs, Colorado. He preceded her in death on July 25 2001.
She graduated from Colorado College, Colorado Springs, Colorado; where she received her bachelor’s degree in English.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Hugoton, Kansas; where she had sang in church choir and worked on encouragement group. She was a loving mother who loved reading books, quilting and embroidery.
Aletha taught Junior High English and High School Journalism during her years as a teacher at Hugoton Public School from 1963 to 1989. After retirement Aletha taught ESL Classes for several years.
Survivors include a son, Lloyd Moon, Hugoton, KS.; two daughters, Rosemary Pillar, Columbus, KS., Sharon Reaves and husband Michael, Toms River, NJ.; a brother, Robert Woods and wife Wanda, Oakland, CA.; a sister, Winifred Byrd, Ocala, FL.; three grandchildren, four great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Sonny Woods and sister, Genevieve Adkins.
Memorials have been established for Care. Memorials may be mailed to Paul’s-Robson Funeral Home- PO Box 236-Hugoton, KS 67951.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at 10:30 AM at the First Christian Church, Hugoton, Kansas with Pastor Heath Kelly presiding. Burial will be in the Hugoton Cemetery, Hugoton, Kansas.
Paul’s-Robson Funeral Home Hugoton, is in charge of arrangements.
