Alida Melinda Gloss, a beloved wife, mom, grandmother, and caregiver, passed away on June 12, 2025, in Elkhart, Kansas.
Alida was born in Louisiana on September 6, 1964, to Bobby R. and Cassie Jean (Clifton) Crockett. She was known for her loving, strong, and amazing personality, which touched the lives of all who knew her.
Alida dedicated many years to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant and a Certified Medication Aide. Her compassionate heart and unwavering dedication to her work made her an invaluable asset to those she served. She was also a member of the First Church of God in Elkhart, where she actively participated in Bible studies, further exemplifying her commitment to her faith.
Alida had a variety of hobbies that brought joy to her life, including watching her favorite actress, Shirley Temple. She cherished spending time with her family and friends, always making room for love and laughter in her interactions.
Alida is survived by her husband, Michael Gloss, of Elkhart, Kansas; three sons, Steve "Robie" Ballinger of New York, Brandon Ballinger and wife Shaneil of Great Bend, Kansas, and Matthew Gloss and wife Jessica of Hutchinson, Kansas. She is also survived by her brother, Bobbie Crockett of Louisiana, and two grandchildren, Seth and Savannah, along with other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter-in-law, Gabrielle "Ella" “ (Marsalisi) Ballinger; her sister, Brenda Camile; and her brother, Kirk Crockett.
Memorials have been established for First Church of God and St. Jude's Children Hospital in care of Robson Funeral Home, PO Box 606, Elkhart, Kansas 67950.
Visitation will be held at Robson Funeral Home in Elkhart, Kansas, on Tuesday, June 17, and Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the First Church of God of Elkhart at 10:30 AM.
Alida Melinda Gloss will be remembered for her unwavering strength, loving spirit, and the immeasurable impact she had on the lives of her family and friends. Her legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
