Anita Kaye Talbert

Anita Kaye Talbert, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2026, in Hugoton, Kansas, after courageously battling illness for many years. Surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on June 8, 1960, in Warrensburg, Missouri, to Russell Eugene and Janice Kay Begnoche. Anita’s journey through life was marked by a spirit of unwavering joy, profound care for others, and an energy that brought people together.

Anita married the love of her life, Alan Dale Talbert, on May 13, 1989, at the Nazarene Church in Hugoton, Kansas. Together they built a loving partnership that spanned decades, and an unwavering commitment to one another. Anita was the steady force in her family, known for keeping everyone in line with her strength, determination, and loving guidance. She faced life's challenges with remarkable courage and remained a fighter until her very last breath.

Anita loved sharing life’s adventures with Alan, especially riding their Harley-Davidson motorcycle. For 26 years, Anita and Alan led the Dust Bowl Riders, forming deep bonds and lasting friendships through the open road and the camaraderie it brought. This time together was a source of adventure, community, and joy.

She was renowned for her cooking and found her greatest joy in bringing family together around the table. Anita especially cherished time spent with her loved ones at the lake, where she enjoyed fishing and making lasting memories. In her later years, she delighted in crafting homemade vanilla, brewing dandelion tea, and baking fresh bread—simple pleasures that reflected her creativity, resourcefulness, and deep love of home.

Few things made Anita happier than the company of her family. She was a fun-loving and dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her genuine kindness shaped the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She is survived by her husband, Alan Dale Talbert; her daughter, Crystal Kay Swinney; her brother, David Arnold; and her sister-in-law, Cindy. She leaves an enduring legacy through her grandchildren, Shelby Makay Swinney and Scott "Bubba" Swinney, as well as her cherished great-grandchildren: Maddix Swinney, Parker Cushenbery, Braxton Swinney, Asher Cushenbery, and Cohen Swinney. She is also lovingly remembered by her brothers and sister-in-law: Max Papay and wife, Cecilla Papay; Ray Talbert and wife, Lita Talbert; and Doneva Beeman.

Anita is preceded in death by her father, Russell Eugene Arnold; her mother, Janice Kay Harris; and her brother, Danny Arnold. The memory of those who have gone before her will be kept alive through stories, shared memories, and the love of family.

A memorial has been established for Pheasant Heaven Charities in care of Robson Funeral Home, PO Box 236, Hugoton, Kansas 67951.

Family and friends are invited to gather and pay their respects during a visitation on Monday, August 3, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Robson Funeral Home in Hugoton. A funeral service celebrating Anita’s life will take place on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Hugoton Church of the Nazarene, followed by interment at Hugoton Cemetery.

Anita’s steadfast love, spirited personality, and generous heart leave a legacy of warmth and kinship. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.
