Carol Ann (Hayden) Tyler, aged 83, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Tonganoxie, KS. Born to John Elmer Hayden and Dorothy Mae (Pinney) Hayden on March 3, 1943, in Leoti, KS, she was brought home to a sister, Johnnie. Another sister, Della, and brother, Sam, would soon arrive to round out the family.
She met Larry Eugene Tyler of Copeland, KS, and they married June 4, 1961. The arrival of their daughter, Brenda, was followed by the prenatal loss of their firstborn son, Bruce, and the birth of their son, Todd.
Larry and Carol raised their children and spent most of their lives in the Ulysses and Satanta areas. Carol was a homemaker and mother, primarily, but she also dabbled a bit in Avon and Home Interiors as a consultant. She was very artistically talented and enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, knitting, painting, gardening, and doing many different kinds of craft projects.
Carol was a member of the Shelton Memorial Christian Church and spent many years making homemade noodles and her well-loved peanut brittle for the annual bazaar.
Carol‘s legacy lives on through her daughter, Brenda Kiehne (with husband Noel of Satanta, KS) her son, Todd (with wife Gina of Tonganoxie, KS), her sister, Della (of St. John, KS), her brother, Sam (and wife Judy of Macksville, KS), grandchildren Heath, Joel, Nevin, Tana, Andrew, and Annie, and six great grandchildren with one on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Larry; sister, Johnnie; son, Bruce; and grandson, Tyler; along with many other family and friends who loved her dearly.
A memorial has been established in her honor at Shelton Memorial Christian Church through Robson Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, from 10 AM to 7 PM at Robson Funeral Home, Ulysses. The family will receive family and friends from 4 PM to 6 PM at Robson Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 10:30 AM at Shelton Memorial Christian Church, Ulysses, Kansas. Burial will follow at Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses, Kansas with Pastor Casey Chapman presiding.
