Carrol Gene Kallenbach, a respected rancher and farmer who dedicated his life to the land and his family, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025, at his beloved home in Rolla, Kansas. He was born on August 2, 1930, in Rolla, to Ray A. and Loretta (Jackson) Kallenbach. He was a lifelong member of this close-knit community, having graduated from Rolla High School.
Carrol and Barbara Long were married and had four children—Ray Lee, Darel Gene, Teresa Claudine, and Barbara Ann. They later divorced.
Carrol was awarded the Man of the Year award in Morton County.
Carrol's commitment to agriculture was evident in his daily life, where he found immense joy in working cattle, a passion that became a cherished tradition for his family. The memories of gathering with his children and grandchildren on the ranch to work cattle are fondly held by many. He was especially proud of his grandchildren, often attending their sports events with enthusiasm and support.
He always looked forward to sharing a cup of coffee with friends at the Rolla Corner Stop.
An honorable veteran, Carrol served in the United States Army, demonstrating a dedication to his country that he carried with pride throughout his life. His steadfastness and work ethic not only shaped his career but also served as an inspiring model for those around him.
Carrol is survived by his two sons, Ray Lee Kallenbach and wife Dana of Rolla, Kansas, and Darel Kallenbach and wife Susan of Church Point, Louisiana; two daughters, Teresa Braymen of Hugoton, Kansas, and Barbara Campbell of Rolla, Kansas. In addition, he leaves behind a legacy of love through his six grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, along with other relatives and friends who will carry his memory forward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son-in-law, Dennis Campbell, and grandson, Justin Craig Campbell as well as his two sisters, Maxine Edelman and Delores Morgan.
Carrol's departure leaves a significant void in the lives of all who knew him, but his spirit will continue to resonate through the many stories and memories shared by family and friends.

A memorial service to honor Carrol’s life will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at the Rolla Methodist Church in Rolla, Kansas, with Pastor Wesley Young officiating. Military honors will be presented by the United States Army and the Southwest Kansas Honor Guard at Rolla Cemetery.
It is a time for family and friends to come together, celebrate his life, and reflect on the legacy he leaves behind.
