Charles "Chuck" Freddie Gill

Chuck Gill, 72, was taken from us on May 22nd, 2023. Chuck was born November 3rd, 1950, in Belleville, Illinois. He was one of five children born to Fred and Pauline (Ridenour) Gill.

Chuck had a deep love for both his family and his cars. Most of his happiest moments included working on classic cars with his Rod Runner Car Club friends or spending quality time with his family. His sense of humor made him an unforgettable personality who touched the hearts of everyone he met. He lived his life lovingly and was respected by many. His career as an automobile painter at Larry Stapp Auto and Burtis Motors in Garden City, Kansas, he served the community for over three decades.

It is known to everyone who knew him that Chuck had a passion for antiquing, collecting trinkets with stories attached to them, and drinking slammies. He had a great sense of adventure and found peace in long rides on his custom motorcycles and classic cars.

Chuck will be forever missed by his wife, Dee Gill of Garden City; son Charles Jr. of Wichita; daughter Kendra King and her husband, James of Derby; brother Scott Gill and his wife Kim of Garden City; sister Charlotte Williams of Wichita; sister Mary Peters and her husband James of Golden, MO.; grandchild Kacee Harm and her husband Brady of Sallisaw, OK.; grandchild Jayden Gill of Wichita; grandchild Logan Gill of Wichita; grandchild Alexandria Pilcher of Wichita; grandchild Eric Pilcher of Derby; grandchild Jonathan Pilcher of Derby; four great-grandchildren Elijah Harm; Easton Harm, Emmy Sue Harm, Timothy "TJ" Gill; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Pauline Gill, two stepmothers, Flossie Gill, and Shirley Gill, brother, Gary Gill.  

A memorial has been established for Friends of Lee Richardson Zoo (FOLRZ); please make checks payable to FOLRZ. In the care of Robson Funeral Home, 620 N. Main Street, Garden City, Kansas.

Book signing for Chuck Gill will be held from 10 am to 5 pm on May 30th, 2023, at Robson Funeral Home, 620 N. Main Street, in Garden City, KS. Visitation will be held May 31, 2023 from 10 am to 12 pm at Robson Funeral Home, 620 N . Main Street, in Garden City.  

Graveside services will be held at 1 pm on May 31st, 2023, at Valley View Cemetery in Garden City, KS. Those who wish to offer condolences and support are invited to attend.

Chuck Gill was a caring family man with an adventurous spirit and infectious humor. He would be mourned and celebrated by everyone who knew him.
