David O. Mancha, 92, of Garden City, KS passed away Sunday, August 14, 2022 at his home with his family by his side.
The rosary will be pray at 7 p.m. Monday, August 22nd , 2022 at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church, 615 JC Street, Garden City, KS. Visitation will immediately follow the rosary from 7 p.m. to 9p.m. at the church. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, August 23rd at the church. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the church, those may be left in care of Robson Funeral Home, 620 N. Main Street, Garden City, Kansas 67846.
David was born March 1, 1930 to the late Carlos and Virginia (Ororzco) Mancha in Hoisington, KS.
During the Korean War, David served as a Tank Crewman in the United States Army and earned the rank of Corporal. After returning from his military service, David married Josephine Garcia on April 10. 1954 in Garden City. David served as a Garden City Reserve officer and was an active member of St. Dominic's Catholic Parish. He enjoyed playing lead guitar for the “Rhythm Aces” for many years. David worked for the Solid Waste Department for Garden City and retired as the Superintendent in 2005.
David is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tom J. Mancha; John Mancha and two sisters, Lucy Torrez and Carmen Barrientez. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Josephine; daughter, Barbara Salina-Collins; son Charles Mancha and wife Ginger; sisters, Alberta Lesesma; Jessie Baca; Carol Galloway; Virginia Zamarippa; Rose Martinez and Nita Long; five grandchildren, Stetson Mancha; Tucson Mancha; Brenden Martinez; Valerie Hess; Steven Salinas; great grandchildren, Austin Hess; McKenzie Hess; Miles Mancha, Jada Mancha and Jasper Salinas.
