David Leon McHatton III

David Leon McHatton III, age 29, passed away at his home in Elkhart, Kansas, on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Born on September 19, 1996, in Liberal, Kansas, David was the cherished son of David Leon McHatton Jr. and Misty Alice Montoya.

David was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Tritney Lee McCabe, with whom he shared a beautiful marriage since March 12, 2022, in Elkhart. Together, they embraced the joy of parenthood, nurturing their two little angels, Kadence Lee and Braesen Leon McHatton, whom David adored with all of his heart.

David had a natural enthusiasm for life, reveling in adventures with his children on their 4-wheelers and enjoying treasured family getaways filled with laughter and love. Whether it was exploring new destinations like the recent trip to the Okana Resort in Oklahoma City or dedicating his spare time to mechanics, David poured his creativity and passion into every endeavor, especially when it involved fixing things that brought even more music and joy into their lives.

He is survived by his loving wife Tritney; his precious children, Kadence Lee and Braesen Leon, all of the home; his father, David McHatton Jr., and wife Jami of Yukon, OK; his mother, Misty Montoya, and husband Gilbert of Hugoton, KS; his dear sisters, Darean Simmons and husband Jordan and Mariah Maravilla and husband Michael, all of Hugoton, KS; his grandparents, David Sr. and Carolyn McHatton of Guymon, Ok., John and Donna Byrd of Hooker, OK., and Richard and Velma Martinez of Borger, TX.; his father and mother-in-law, Trent and Cindy McCabe of Elkhart, KS; his sister-in-law, Kaitlyn Higgins and husband Wesley of Elkhart, KS; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and beloved friends.

David is now at peace, having been preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Tony and Mary Ann Roybal, John and June McHatton, John and Loretta Cox. 

In memory of David, a memorial fund has been established for the benefit of his children's education and care. Contributions can be made payable to Robson Funeral Home, in the memo line, please put David McHatton Memorial Fund. 

Friends and family are invited to share their memories during the book signing events on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 4 PM to 6 PM, and on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 10 AM to 2 PM. Private viewing will be held at another time for the immediate family only. 

A heartfelt funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at 2 PM at the First Church of God in Elkhart, with burial to follow at the Elkhart Cemetery.
