Elmer Warren Clymer, 76, died on Tuesday June 6, 2017 at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City, KS.
He was the son of Walter & Elma (Kinser) Clymer, he was born on October 19, 1940 at Paonia, CO.
Elmer and Mary were married on June 8, 1963 and she preceded him in death on June 23, 2003.
Elmer then married Chris Van Hoosier on December 28, 2006 in Satanta, KS.
Elmer moved to Satanta when he was two years old from Colorado. Elmer had a variety of occupations throughout his life. He did amazing carpentry work; he was a perfectionist. He owned his own irrigation business. When he retired he worked at Satanta Long Term Care Unit as the driver for the transport bus to take residents to their appointments. He enjoyed speaking during church service on Sunday afternoon at Satanta Long Term Care Unit. Elmer managed the Satanta Community Food Bank for several years. Although he was retired he stayed busy helping his community. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and served on the many committee’s for several years. He was a past president of Sublette Jaycee’s. He loved to go fishing and collecting antiques. Elmer had a love for trains and had quite the collection at home.
Survivors include, wife, Chris Clymer, Satanta, KS; three sons, Charles Clymer & wife Karen, Cunningham, KS; Daniel Small & wife Jody, Satanta, KS; Larry Small, Satanta, KS; three daughters, Diane Nickelson & husband Mike, Leoti, KS; Charlotte Marks & husband Larry, Cuberston, NE; Jeanette Crump & husband John, Satanta, KS; one brother, Marion Clymer & wife Faye, Cherryvale, KS; two sisters, Edna Louise Clymer-Pitt & husband Steve, Colorado Springs, CO; Bernice Ann Clymer, Gardner, KS; fourteen grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary, son Elmer Jr., and grandson Blake Nickelson.
A memorial has been established for Food Pantry of Satanta and Happy Agers of Satanta. Memorials can be mailed to Paul’s-Robson Funeral Home- P.O. Box 747- Satanta, KS 67870.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at 10:30 AM at United Methodist Church, Satanta, KS and burial following at Dudley Township Cemetery.
Visitation will be Thursday 12 PM to 8 PM and Friday 10 AM to 8 PM at Paul’s-Robson Funeral Home, Satanta.
Paul’s-Robson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
