Eric "Ric" Malcolm Essix passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the age of 35, at Southwest Medical Center, Liberal, Kansas.
Eric was born on November 7, 1990, in Guymon, Oklahoma, to Eric Montel Essix and Janis Kaye Diederich. Eric was a kind-hearted soul whose warmth and positive spirit touched the lives of all who knew him.
Eric graduated from Satanta High School in 2010 and had recently returned to his hometown, where he worked as a clerk at the Corner Express convenience store. He enjoyed watching football and basketball, gaming, and listening to music—interests he loved sharing with his friends and family.
He is survived by his mother, Janis Grover and her husband, Garlan, of Satanta, Kansas; his father, Eric Essix, of Liberal, Kansas; two brothers, Michael Grover of Harrisonville, Missouri, and Jaylon Essix and his fiance Jessica Headrick, Satanta, Kansas; two sisters, Malia Grover, Lawton, Oklahoma, and Ella Essix, Guymon, Oklahoma; his maternal grandparents, Jerry and Phyllis Diederich, Hooker, Oklahoma; grandmother, Barbara Grover as well as his special aunt and uncle, Jason and Jenny Garraway of Derby, Kansas, and numerous other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
Eric was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lesie Thomas and Susie Essix, and brother, Edward Grover.
Memorials have been established for the Eric Essix Memorial Fund in care of Robson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 747, Satanta, Kansas 67870. The family will share the donations with several organizations that reflect his love of animals.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 3 PM to 8 PM at Robson Funeral Home in Satanta.
A funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Satanta, Kansas, on Monday, December 1, 2025, beginning at 10:30 AM. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at Dudley Township Cemetery, Satanta, Kansas.
Eric Malcolm Essix leaves behind a legacy of kindness and caring that will not be forgotten. His spirit will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.
