Esperanza Rivera De Urquidi, born on July 17, 1947, to Seferino Rivera and Benedicta Gallegos, in Mexico, she passed away on November 3, 2025, in Hugoton, Kansas, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. She was a devoted mother, sister, and cherished family member who dedicated her life to nurturing those around her.
From her early years, Esperanza embodied a spirit of love and care that defined her relationships with her family. She had immense pride in her children and the home she created for her loved ones. Her passion for life was evident in her love for music, movies, and television shows, and her adventurous spirit made her an avid traveler who always had a bag packed and ready to embark on a new journey.
Esperanza is survived by her beloved mother, Benedicta Gallegos of Odessa, Texas; her two sons, Ismael Urquidi of Hugoton, Kansas, and Adan Urquidi and wife Gabby of Liberal, Kansas; and her five daughters, Esperanza Rivera and husband Guillermo of Lamar, Colorado, Margarita Manzano and husband Nahum of Maize, Kansas, Evelyn Urquidi and husband Jose of Hugoton, Kansas, Martina Urquidi and husband Edgar of Midland, Texas, and Carmina Guerrero and husband Johnny of Amarillo, Texas. In addition to her children, she leaves behind a legacy of thirty-three grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished deeply.
Her loving nature extended to her siblings as well. She is survived by five sisters: Rose Rivera of Kermit, Texas, Silvia Rivera of Odessa, Texas, Elda Rivera of Houston, Texas, Margarita Rivera of Odessa, Texas, Benedicta Rivera and Gabriel Rivera, both of Liberal, Kansas; and six brothers, Emeterio Rivera of Borger, Texas, Rosario Rivera, Rene Rivera, Seferino Rivera, Benito Rivera, all of Odessa, Texas, and Alfredo Rivera of Liberal, Kansas. Esperanza also leaves behind many other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
She is preceded in death by her father, Seferino Rivera; her loving husband, Antonio Urquidi; two sons, Jorge Antonio Urquidi and Francisco Urquidi; two daughters, Kim and Kimberly Urquidi; two grandsons, Andres Talavera and Israel Urquidi; one great-grandson, Jose Flores; and one sister, Emma Rivera.
A memorial has been established for the family; checks can be made payable to Evelyn Urquidi, in care of Robson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 236, Hugoton, Kansas 67951.
Visitation services will be held Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M., and Friday, November 7, 2025 from 12 P.M. to 6 P.M. at Robson Funeral Home, at Hugoton, Kansas.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Hugoton Church of God, Hugoton, Kansas.
Burial will follow at Hugoton Cemetery, Hugoton, Kansas.

Esperanza Rivera De Urquidi, nacio el 17 de Julio de 1947 en México, hija de Seferino Rivera y Benedicta Gallegos, falleció el 3 de Noviembre de 2025 en Hugoton, Kansas, rodeada del cariño de sus hijos y nietos. Fue una madre, hermana y familiar ejemplar que dedicó su vida a cuidar de quienes la rodeaban.
Desde su infancia, Esperanza personificó un espíritu de amor y cariño que caracterizó sus relaciones familiares. Sentía un inmenso orgullo por sus hijos y por el hogar que creó para sus seres queridos. Su pasión por la vida se reflejaba en su afición por la música, ver television sentada en su sillon favorito, lavar y doblar ropa, anhelaba y disfrutaba cuando su familia estaba reunida, le encantaba cantar, y su espíritu aventurero la convertía en una viajera incansable, siempre con la maleta lista para emprender una nueva aventura.
A Esperanza le sobreviven su querida madre, Benedicta Gallegos de Odessa, Texas; sus dos hijos, Ismael Urquidi de Hugoton, Kansas, y Adan Urquidi y su esposa Gabby de Liberal, Kansas; Esperanza Rivera y su esposo Guillermo de Lamar, Colorado; Margarita Manzano y su esposo Nahum de Maize, Kansas; Evelin Urquidi y su esposo José de Hugoton, Kansas; Martina Urquidi y su esposo Edgar de Midland, Texas, y Carmina Guerrero y su esposo Johnny de Amarillo, Texas. Además de sus hijos, deja un legado de treinta y tres nietos y veintiséis bisnietos, a quienes amaba profundamente.
Su naturaleza amorosa se extendía también a sus hermanos. Le sobreviven seis hermanas: Rose Rivera de Kermit, Texas; Silvia Rivera de Odessa, Texas; Elda Rivera de Houston, Texas; Margarita Rivera de Odessa, Texas; Benedicta Rivera y Gabriela Rivera, ambos de Liberal, Kansas; y seis hermanos: Emeterio Rivera de Borger, Texas; Rosario Rivera, René Rivera, Seferino Rivera y Benito Rivera, todos de Odessa, Texas; y Alfredo Rivera de Liberal, Kansas. Esperanza también deja atrás a muchos otros familiares y amigos que la extrañarán profundamente.
Le precedieron en la muerte su padre, Seferino Rivera; su amado esposo, Antonio Urquidi; dos hijos, Jorge Antonio Urquidi y Francisco Urquidi; dos hijas, Kim y Kimberly Urquidi; dos nietos, Andrés Talavera e Israel Urquidi; un bisnieto, José Flores; y una hermana, Emma Rivera.
