Jerry Leroy Wright

Jerry Leroy Wright was born on November 17, 1931, in Moscow, Kansas, and passed away on February 22, 2025, in Lubbock, Texas. Jerry had a long and fascinating life. After graduating from high school, he got a teaching degree and taught for a short time.

That led to his career in the military. initially starting in the Air Force, Jerry spent the majority of his military career in the Army, achieving the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3 in Military Intelligence before retiring. It was while serving overseas in Germany that he met Ingrid. He was fluent in German and French. They married and had 3 sons. after retiring, Jerry furthered his education, achieving a Master's Degree in Library Science. He started a new career with the US Postal Service until he retired again. Upon Ingrid's death in 2005, fate would have it that he would return to Germany and decide to marry his wife, Regine, who was Ingrid's friend. He gained two new children, Marcus and Regine, and a granddaughter, Mia. Jerry and Regine settled in Lubbock, Texas. He enjoyed NASCAR, bowling, and working in his yard.

Jerry is preceded in death by his brother, James Wright, his sisters, Mary Bell Thompson, Faye Pearce, Nell Fox, and Nina Smith. 

Jerry is survived by his wife, Regine Wright, father of 4 sons, James "Jim" Wright of Oak Harbor, WA., John Wright of Lubbock, TX., Jay Wright, and Erik Wright of Dumas, TX,  grandfather to Mike Yolanda, Nikki, and David, great-grandfather to Elizabeth, Truly, Sadie, Miles, and Tyla and a host of other relatives and friends. 

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 11 AM, Moscow Cemetery, Moscow, Kansas with Military Honors from Fort Riley Army Base. 

His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Jerry Leroy Wright will be remembered for his unwavering spirit and the light he brought into the lives of everyone fortunate enough to encounter him.
