Jimmy & Barbara Bond

d. May 26, 2023

Jimmy Charles and Barbara Jolene Bond went to be with Jesus together hand in hand on Friday, May 26, 2023, after a tragic accident in Labette County, Kansas. Their love was inseparable from the beginning to the very end.

Jimmy was born to Charlie and Margery (Gilstrap) Bond on June 10, 1941, in Coffeyville, Kansas.

Barbara was born to Jack Waugh and Ella Mae (McBrien)Thompson on June 21, 1943, in Coffeyville, Kansas.

They both graduated from Edna High School and then started their family together.

Jimmy Charles Bond married Barbara Jolene Waugh on December 21, 1960, in Miami, Oklahoma. To this union were three amazing and loving children; Jacque, Lisa, and Jim Tom.

Barbara was a homemaker and enjoyed babysitting her nieces and nephews. While her children were growing up, she did a lot of gardening and canning. She filled her time with making scrumptious food for her family, sewing, and anything else that involved spending time with them. After raising her children, she enjoyed working a short time at the Woodshed in Edna and visiting with everyone she saw.

Jimmy worked for Union of Pacific Railroad until retirement. He spent his spare time either traveling to rodeos or practicing in the arena. One of his greatest hobbies was spending time in his welding shop making things for those he loved.

Her husband, Jimmy, was the love of her life, and she always prioritized taking care of him. Their home was where all the upcoming and roping kids came to practice with Jimmy, meanwhile Barb made sure they never left hungry.

Together they travelled near and far to the grandkids sport functions, especially rodeos. Their children and grandchildren were everything to them, they would go above and beyond to support all of their endeavors.

They are treasured and will be missed by all their family; son, Jim Tom Bond; two daughters, Jacque Hamilton and husband Jim, Lisa Franklin; seven grandchildren -Heather Schubergerand husband Shane, Tyler Hamilton and wife Tiffani, Clayton Bond, Jake Bond and wife Misti, Elizabeth Wilmoth and husband Clint, Joel Franklin and wife Kym, and Tagg Bond; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends that they treated as their own. Both Jimmy and Barb made everyone feel so special and so loved.

Jimmy is survived by his sisters, Mary Margaret Brown, Tina Shelby. He was preceded in death by one sister, Nancy Bond and his parents, Charlie and Margery.

Barbara is survived by siblings, Jimmy Waugh, Jerry Waugh, and Patty Barnett and husband Bob. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Ella Mae; two sister-in-law’s Patsy and Sharon Waugh.

Both Jimmy and Barbara were preceded in death by precious grandson, Colton James Bond.
