Joe Thomas Holcomb

Joe Thomas Holcomb passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, in Amarillo, Texas, after experiencing health issues in the previous month. He was 69 years old.

Joe was born on November 14, 1956, in Clinton, Oklahoma, to Floyd "Tuff" Crawford and Selia (Luinstra) Crawford. Raised with the values of integrity and kindness, Joe carried those lessons with him throughout his life’s journey.

Joe and Linda Lou (Clifft) Holcomb were married on August 1, 1981, in Hugoton, Kansas. Together, they built a life filled with companionship, quiet joys, and mutual respect—a testament to enduring love.

Joe attended Bethel Friends Church in Hugoton. He was an avid fan of dirt track racing and enjoyed spending time at the races. One of his proud moments came when the Hugoton community asked for suggestions to name the local racetrack. Joe submitted "Dirtona Raceway," and his entry was selected, giving the track the name it still carries today.

Joe was a devoted husband, proud father, and loving grandfather. He treasured every opportunity to attend his children's and grandchildren's activities and was their biggest supporter, always cheering them on.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Floyd "Tuff" Crawford, and his mother, Selia (Luinstra) Crawford; a brother, Kendric Holcomb; two sisters, Mary Griffin and Darlene Holcomb; and a daughter-in-law, Kelsey Stecklein.

Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Linda Holcomb of Hugoton, Kansas; two sons, Wade Holcomb of Amarillo, Texas, and Bill Holcomb and his wife, Krista, of Liberal, Kansas; one daughter, Laura Holcomb of Hugoton, Kansas; grandchildren, Elsie Gonzales, Lyza Gonzales, Elsie Holcomb, Ian Holcomb, and Alyvia Holcomb; one sister, Dana Solis of Dodge City, Kansas; two brothers-in-law, Kevin Clifft of Hugoton, Kansas, and David Griffin of Ottawa, Kansas; and ten cherished nieces and nephews.

A memorial has been established for Bethel Friends Church, Pheasant Heaven Charities, and Liberal Amateur Wrestling Club; in care of Robson Funeral Home, PO Box 236, Hugoton, Kansas 67951.

A Book Signing will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Robson Funeral Home - Hugoton, located at 314 South Van Buren Street, Hugoton, Kansas.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Bethel Friends Church, 1040 S Jefferson St, Hugoton, Kansas.

Cremation has taken place.

Joe Thomas Holcomb’s life was marked by quiet dignity and enduring love. He will be remembered with affection, respect, and gratitude by all who had the honor to know him.
