Joseph Charles Hignett Sr. was born on January 15, 1976, in Norwich, Connecticut. He passed away on October 5, 2025, in Hugoton, Kansas, surrounded by his beloved wife and children. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
Joseph dedicated many years of his life to his career as a concrete mason in Connecticut, embodying a strong work ethic that followed him when he moved to Kansas. In his new home, he applied his skills in agriculture, working for local farmers with irrigation and farm duties, illustrating his unyielding commitment to hard work.
Joseph, known fondly as Joe, was a devoted family man whose love for his wife, Faith M. (Briggs) Hignett, and their five children was evident in all he did. He cherished the time spent teaching his children invaluable skills, whether it was working on cars, tinkering with dirtbike projects, or helping with irrigation systems and crop circles. His son Joseph Jr. and Jacob often turned to their father for assistance with their mechanical endeavors, while his daughter Angel gained hands-on experience every summer, working alongside him in the fields. Fishing trips with Alikx were also a highlight of their time together, bonding over shared adventures.
Joe’s loving and steadfast personality radiated warmth and respect. His unwavering commitment to teaching his children the value of hard work is a testament to the legacy he leaves behind. He was a good man who lived with integrity and kindness, qualities that will undoubtedly resonate with those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Faith; his children, Antonia Lynn Jascowski of Oakdale, Connecticut; Alikxavier Jonathan Briggs of Moscow, Kansas; Angelina Nicole Hignett of Hays, Kansas; Joseph Charles Hignett Jr. of Moscow, Kansas; and Jacob Malcolm Hignett of Moscow, Kansas. He is also survived by his mother, Connie Rochester; brothers, Horace Hignett Jr. and Christopher Hignett; sister, Connie Hignett; and several other relatives and friends.
Joseph is preceded in death by his father, Horace Fredrick Hignett Sr.
A book signing will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Robson Funeral Home in Hugoton from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Moscow Baptist Church, in Moscow, Kansas.
Joseph Charles Hignett Sr. will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his hardworking spirit, and the tender moments shared with loved ones. His legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
