Josephine Helen Mancha, of Garden City, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2026, in Garden City. She was born on August 27, 1933, to Rosendro and Frances (Medina) Garcia. Josephine lived a life marked by love, dedication, and a passionate commitment to her family and the Church family.

Josephine’s career was proudly rooted in public service, having worked diligently for the City of Garden City professional life, Josephine was a vibrant and fun-loving individual, known for her kind heart and zest for life. She cherished her family above all else, often expressing her joy through her favorite pastimes—tending to flowers, decorating her home, sewing, and quilting, activities that showcased her creative spirit and spirited personality.

On April 10, 1954, Josephine wed David Mancha in Garden City, beginning a partnership that spanned 68 years until David’s passing on August 14, 2022. Their union was a testament to enduring love and shared commitments. Josephine was also an active member of St. Dominic’s Church in Garden City, where she contributed wholeheartedly to her faith community until health challenges necessitated a step back from her activities.

She was deeply proud of her children and grandchildren, who stand as her most cherished accomplishments. Josephine is survived by her son, Charles (Chuck) Mancha and his wife, Ginger; her daughter, Barbara Salinas-Collins all of Garden City; her brother, John Garcia and his wife, Phillis; her sister, Ramona Garcia, Garden City; grandchildren, Stetson Mancha, Tucson Mancha, Brenden Martinez, Valerie Hess, and Steven Salinas; and great-grandchildren Austin Hess, McKenzie Hess, Miles Mancha, Jada Mancha, Jasper Salinas, and Oliver Salinas, along with other relatives and dear friends.

Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband David, and her sisters Virginia Garcia, Elizabeth Orozco, and Gilda Mancha; and brothers, Mike and Pete Garcia.  Her legacy is one of unwavering love, compassion, and an enduring joyful spirit.

A visitation to honor Josephine’s memory will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Robson Funeral Home, located at 620 N. Main, Garden City, Kansas 67846. The family will receive family and friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. 

The graveside service will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 12 p.m. at Valley View Cemetery, 2901 N 3rd St, Garden City, Kansas 67846.

Josephine Helen Mancha’s passing marks the departure of a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose loving nature and devotion to life will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

She leaves behind a powerful example of love and dedication that will continue to inspire her family and community for generations to come.
