Lawrence Godfrey Roth, a resident of Garden City, Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, at the age of 97 at the Ranch House in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on December 2, 1927, in Garden City, to Joseph J. and Caroline Madeline (Marks) Roth. Lawrence was a proud lifelong member of the Finney County community.
Lawrence and Leona Louise Heinitz were married on January 23, 1960 in Garden City, Kansas.
Lawrence dedicated his life to farming, where he cultivated wheat, milo, corn, and sugar beets, reflecting his deep-rooted connection to the land. His passion for agriculture was matched only by his love for horses and cattle, which played a significant role in his fulfilling rural life.
He served his country honorably as a corporal during the Korean War, where he operated anti-aircraft radar. His military service was a testament to his commitment and dedication to others, values he carried throughout his life.
Family was at the heart of everything for Lawrence. He was a devoted father to his two daughters, Judy Irsik and her husband J.D., of Garden City, and Kimberlee Green and her husband Arthur, of Lakin. Lawrence’s legacy of love continued through his four beloved grandchildren, Joshua Irsik, Shelby Irsik, Matthew Green, and Shaylee Green, whom he took great joy in watching grow and thrive. He is also remembered fondly by his brother, Joseph Roth Jr., and his sister, JoAnn Biernacki, as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Leona Louise Roth, his brother, Leonard Roth, and his sister, Floreen Roth.
A memorial has been established for St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Finney County Humane Society, in care of Robson Funeral Home, 620 North Main Street, Garden City, Kansas 67846.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 10 AM to 5 PM and Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 10 AM to 5 PM at Robson Funeral Home, Garden City, Kansas.
A rosary will be held at Robson Funeral Home in Garden City on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 6:00 PM.
The Funeral Mass service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Garden City.
Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery.
Lawrence Godfrey Roth will be remembered for his steadfast commitment to family, his unwavering dedication to farming, and his quiet gratitude for the simple joys of life. He leaves behind a legacy of love and hard work that will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched.
