Lonnie Jess Conner was born on March 31, 1949, to Chester and Myrtle Conner in Imperial, Nebraska, he left this world April 15, 2025 at his home in Garden City, Kansas.
He was raised in Utica, Kansas, by his aunt Vera and husband Bill Curtis till he graduated from Utica High School in 1967. He then went on to attend a VoTech Program in Goodland, Kansas, and eventually moved back to Nebraska. Soon after he married Carolyn "Dianne" Conner on December 21, 1974, they then moved their family to Garden City, Kansas, to be near his family.
Lonnie was the youngest of four children and leaves brothers Ron and wife Mary Conner, Jack and wife Bonnie Ramos-Needham, sister Connie and husband Bill Underwood, and numerous other relatives and friends behind.
Lonnie leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn Conner; two sons, Loren and Logan Conner; two daughters, Carrie Conner and Cindy Ramsey and husband Bryan; seven grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
As a Boy Scout Leader, he participated in the Wood Badge Course, Order of the Arrow, and was a leader for all ages, as well as serving as both the Cubmaster and Scoutmaster, receiving several awards and eventually working through the Explorer program to provide "High Adventure" for both boys and girls. He also spent time as a Leader for the Girl Scouts. His accomplishments include the Toastmasters public speaking course, many awards through employment and volunteer programs. Besides Scouting, Lonnie enjoyed woodworking, car racing, riding his motorcycle, and spending time with his grandchildren. A busy man, he will be missed but remembered by many whose lives he touched.
