Lorene Bell

Lorene Bell, 86, passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, in Moscow, Kansas. She was born on August 27, 1940, in New Mexico to Harry P. and Gertrude “Babe” W. (Kiddoo) Moss.

Lorene and James “Jim” were married on March 6, 1965, in Hugoton, Kansas. They made their home in Moscow, Kansas, where they raised their family and built a life together.

Lorene was a member of Moscow Christian Fellowship, formerly Moscow United Methodist Church for many years.

Lorene lived a life marked by hard work, service, and a deep enjoyment of everyday moments. She worked for many years as an LPN nurse for Dr. Harper, caring for others with dedication and compassion. She also served her community as a bus driver for Moscow Schools, a role that reflected her steady presence and commitment to local families. In addition, Lorene enjoyed selling Avon for many years. Alongside James “Jim,” she also owned and operated the Moscow Bar and Grill, sharing in the work and life of a well-known local business.

She found happiness in having her family around. Lorene enjoyed cooking and spending time playing games on the computer. She also loved camping and traveling around the United States with her husband Jim, creating years of shared experiences and treasured memories together.

Lorene is survived by her husband, James (Jim) Bell; a son, Clyde Allen Bell, and wife Kary, Flager, Colorado; Suzie VanBerkum and husband Tim, Huron, South Dakota, Trina Young and husband Nick, Hugoton, Kansas; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Moss, Hugoton, Kansas, Helen Felzein, Wichita, Kansas, Kay Thompson and husband Dick, Kansas City, Missouri, Ronda Fondoble, Ellis, Kansas; four grandchildren, James Bell, Jayna Bell, Sarah VanBerkum, and Torrey VanBerkum. Her memory will be carried forward with love by those who knew her and shared in her life.

A memorial has been established for Moscow Christian Fellowship Church, in care of Robson Funeral Home, PO Box 236, Hugoton, Kansas 67951.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Robson Funeral Home in Hugoton, 314 South Van Buren Street, Hugoton, Kansas.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Moscow Christian Fellowship, formerly Moscow UMC, 300 Main Street, Moscow, Kansas. Burial will take place at Moscow Cemetery, Moscow, Kansas.
