Louis Arthur Boultinghouse was born April 17, 1925, in Grand Junction Colorado to Louis Arthur Boultinghouse Sr and Dora Elizabeth (Treadwell) Boultinghouse. He passed away Monday, December 13, 2022, at Brookdale Skilled Nursing Facility in Overland Park, Kansas, at the age of 97.
Louis was born in Osborne, Kansas, and attended grade school, junior high and high school there. He left to join the Navy in 1943, becoming a Boatswain’s Mate on a destroyer tender and served in the Navy for four years. After returning home from WWII, Louis returned to the area of his hometown. He met his wife Juletta Pauls the summer of 1947 and after a two-year courtship, they were married on July 19, 1949, the day liquor was legalized in Kansas.
Louis and Juletta raised six children; Monte, LuEtta, Rodney, Kevin, Craig and Michelle. In 1951, Lou and Juletta moved to Colby and lived there until moving to Garden City, Kansas in 1959. They lived there and raised their children until Juletta passed in 1999. Louis continued to work as a landlord for his commercial buildings he owned in his spare time, you would find him at the Senior Citizen enjoying his daily lunch, playing pool with his buddies and several times per week, driving to dances all over western Kansas. After a fall and a brief time in a nursing home, he relocated to Overland Park, Kansas in 2018 where his two children, Monte Lou and Michelle Ann reside. Louis thrived in Kansas City and enjoyed many wonderful times with his family and friends. Louis adored his children and while in Kansas City, took several “vacations” out to Washington state to visit his son Rodney and daughter-in-law, Maria and while there, he remained active every day.
Louis was preceded in death by his wife, Juletta, in November 2000; parents Louis and Dora Boultinghouse; brother Bob Boultinghouse, sisters Beth Sharp, Joann Vandament and Brownie Gass, daughter LuEtta Boultinghouse and son Rodney Boultinghouse.
