Margaret Louise (Bennett) Tackett
Born August 23, 1937, in Clarinda, Iowa to Elmer and Thelma (Fenton) Bennett. She was raised and attended schools in Iowa until moving to Holcomb, KS in March of 1951. She graduated from Holcomb high School in 1955. She loved playing basketball and performing in plays in school. On August 5, 1955, she married Benjamin "Doug" Tackett. They had two sons Michael of Las Vegas, NV and Mitchell of Deerfield, KS.
She worked for JJ Applehans Oil Company for two years as bookkeeper and 23 years as a Secretary/Bookkeeper for Taylor and Associates Engineering Company. She was a member of the Deerfield United Methodist Church, served as councilman to the City of Deerfield form 1987-2011, served several years on the Kearny County Planning Commission, did volunteer work for the United Methodist Church in Deerfield and Budget Shop in Lakin, KS.
She loved going to all the school events her sons and grandchildren were in, helping whenever she could. Ther were her life. She was always baking cakes, pies, and cookies for school events and birthdays.
She is survived by her sons, Mike Tackett and wife Darci, of Las Vegas, NV; Mitchell Tackett and wife Deanna of Deerfield, KS; her brother Richard Bennett and wife Maryann of Garden City, KS; granddaughter, Amber Tackett and Cody of Apache Junction, AZ; Grandsons, Tyler Tackett of Scottsdale, AZ and Trace Tackett and wife Serena of Reno, NV; Great-granddaughter, Lilah Rose; 7 step-grandchildren, 18 step great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Myrtle Goetz; brother-in-law, Loran Miller, and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Donald Bennett, two sisters, Mary Ewing and Virginia Miller and her husband, Doug.
Memorial Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Deerfield United Methodist Women, c/o Robson Funeral Home - Garden City.
