She met Cirilo Guevara Solis in Ensenada, Baja, Mexico, and they were married on June 24, 1966, in Ensenada. They then moved to California in 1972 and continued to grow their family. In 1995, they moved to Garden City, Kansas. Cirilo passed away on July 17, 2011, in Garden City, Kansas.

Maria particularly cherished her time traveling to San Quintin, where she would spend days and sometimes weeks with her adored siblings. Those moments together strengthened family bonds, filled with laughter, love, and shared experiences. Each reunion was marked by her remarkable cooking, as she took great pride in preparing lavish meals that brought everyone together.

Her proudest accomplishments include crocheting beautiful outfits and blankets for each grandchild and great-grandchild as they came into this world, a testament to the love she poured into every stitch. The legacy of her craftsmanship will continue to be cherished for generations.

Her gentle spirit shone through her interactions. Maria was known for her sweet and caring nature, making friends with everyone she encountered. She never knew a stranger, and her warmth left an indelible mark on the hearts of those lucky enough to cross her path.

She found joy in every moment spent with her five children: Loida Orozco and her husband, Antonio, Miriam Guevara, Elimelec Guevara and his wife, Angelina, Josue Guevara and his wife, Judith, and Edna Ochoa and her husband, Israel; seventeen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Eleven siblings also held a special place in her life: Rafela, Pedro, Amparo, Samuel, Angelina, Dina, Marcos, Alfredo, David, Veronica, and Francisco. Together, they created a lifetime of precious memories.
