Mary Lou Kinlund, born on May 5, 1929, to Albert and Merry Gladys (Smades) Lucius, in Horace, Kansas, was a beloved member of her community and family. She passed away peacefully in Holcomb, Kansas, on June 11, 2025, at the age of 96.

A dedicated and nurturing individual, Mary Lou made a significant impact as a daycare provider, offering love and care to countless children in her home. Her passion for nurturing the young, combined with her commitment to education, was a defining aspect of her life. Mary Lou graduated from Tribune High School, and her family remembers her as a person who valued learning and growth.

Mary and Arlyss Kinlund were married on January 11, 1950, in Tribune, Kansas; to this union they had three children, Bracken Neal, Marlyss Jean, and Brent Alan.

With a warm heart, Mary Lou embraced her roles as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her personality radiated love, and she was cherished by her family and friends for her kindness and dedication. She was particularly proud of her active membership with the Tribune United Methodist Church, where she found a community of faith and support.

Mary Lou had a variety of interests that brought her joy throughout her life. She had a special affinity for coffee, often enjoying it while tending to her beautiful garden filled with vibrant flowers. Being outdoors, surrounded by nature, truly enriched her life.

Mary Lou is survived by her son, Bracken Neal Kinlund, and wife Cynthia of Greeley, Colorado; her daughter, Marlyss Jean Kinlund of Holcomb, Kansas; as well as five grandchildren, Montana Kinlund of Denver, Colorado, Laurel LaBonde and husband Joe of Greeley, Colorado, Shelby Kinlund and husband Alfred Eastin of Denver, Colorado, Ali Springsteen-Oshel and husband Ryan of Lawrence, Kansas, and Alan Kinlund and wife Sarah of Clovis, New Mexico. Her legacy continues through her seven great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Arlyss Kinlund; her parents, Albert and Merry Lucius; one son, Brent Alan Kinlund; one brother, Everett Lucius; and one grandson, Booth Lee Springsteen.

A memorial has been established for Tribune United Methodist Church and Melvin O. Kuder Senior Center, in care of Robson Funeral Home, 620 North Main Street, Garden City, Kansas 67846.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 2 P.M. to 8 P.M., and Monday, June 23, 2025, from 10 A.M. to 8 P.M., at Robson Funeral Home, Garden City, Kansas.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10 A.M., Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at Tribune United Methodist Church, in Tribune, Kansas.

Burial will follow at Greeley County Cemetery, in Tribune, Kansas.

Mary Lou Kinlund will be remembered fondly for her unwavering love, devotion to family, and the warmth she brought into the lives of everyone she met. Her spirit will remain in the hearts of those she touched during her remarkable journey through life.
