Max Gilbert Martinez

Max Gilbert Martinez passed away at home in Garden City, Kansas, on August 20, 2026. He was born on November 26, 1959, to Jose M. Martinez and Orselia (Romero) Martinez, in Montrose, Colorado.

Max graduated from high school in Olathe, Colorado. In his free time, he loved working on cars and was an amazing mechanic. He also enjoyed watching football and numerous movies. Those who knew him will remember the steady pleasure he found in the things he loved and the skill he brought to his work on cars.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jose Martinez, and his mother, Orselia Martinez.

Max is survived by his brother, Richard Martinez, and his wife, Julie, of Grand Junction, Colorado; his sister, Sofia Trujillo-Brada, and her husband, Rodney, of Montrose, Colorado; his sister, Betty Martinez, of Selma, California; and his sister, Josie Skinner, and her husband, John, of Olathe, Colorado. He will be remembered with love by his family and by all who knew him.

Max’s life will be honored in the memories shared by those closest to him, and he will be deeply missed.
