Melanie Leigh Schmehr, 61, died on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at Morton County Hospital, Elkhart, KS.
She was the daughter of Melvin Eugene Berg and Lana (Craig) Hoare; she was born on February 22, 1957 in Caruthesville, AR.
She and Dennis Wayne Schmehr were married on September 12, 1981 and he preceded her in death on September 12, 1986.
She loved her family. Melanie made her home in Canute, Oklahoma area. She enjoyed breaking colts, riding horses and painting.
Survivors includes three daughters, Chandra Wiederin & husband Curt, Carroll, IA, Allana Schmehr, Hugoton, KS., Mandi Ashley, Canute, OK., brother, Farin Hoare, Iowa; sister, Felisa Short, Dallas, TX.; half brother, Paul Berg, half sister, Krista Berg, Anne Marie Berg; 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Memorial has been established for Happy Horse. Memorials may be mailed to Paul’s-Robson Funeral Home- PO Box 236- Hugoton, KS 67951.
She is preceded in death by her step dad, Frank Hoare, brother, Darrett Shane Berg.
Memorial service will be at a later date.
