NINA FAYE (BATES) BIRKLE

Nina F. Birkle, 89 of Garden City, KS passed away Friday, February 3^rd, 2023 at the Ranch House.  Funeral services will be 11a.m., Monday, February 6, 2023 at Fellowship Baptist Church, 506 N. 1^st Street, Garden City.  The family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Fellowship Baptist Church, Dallas Brown-Burkina Faso Mission and may be left in care of Robson Funeral Home.

Nina was born September 20, 1933 to the late Ira and Cecil (Clark) Bates in Garden City, KS.  After graduating from Garden City High School.  Nina earned an associates degree from Garden City Community College.  After college, Nina married Jerry Birkle on December 6, 1953.  She started her career as a cashier for Duckwall’s and soon went on to be the office manager and bookkeeper for Sears, NACO and American Eagle.  Nina was a charter member of Fellowship Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school.  Her heart was teaching preschoolers and kindergarteners however she would gladly fill in where ever she was needed.  After retirement Nina continued her service to the church by serving as the bookkeeper.

Nina is preceded in death by her parents; husband Jerry Birkle; brothers, George and wife Corrine Bates; Ray Bates; sisters, Myrna and husband Melvin Mott; Elinor and husband Jerry Paasch; Shirley Brenning and a nephew Matthew Bates.  She is survived by her sister, Louise Hokanson and husband Curtis; a brother in law, Ray Brenning and many nieces, nephews and friends.
