NORMA LOU HARMON
Norma L. Harmon, 72, of Garden City, formerly of Ulysses, Kansas passed away Monday, March 27, 2023 at The Ranch House. Norma was born the youngest of nine children on October 21, 1950 to the late William and Dolly Pope in Syracuse, Kansas. On January 22, 1964 Norma married James Harmon in Raton, New Mexico. After they were married the newly weds moved to Indiana and started a family. In 1982, Norma and James moved the family to western Kansas, living in Syracuse before finally settling down in Ulysses, Kansas. Norma worked for over 20 years as the head cook for the Peddler’s Inn Restaurant before retiring in 2003. She enjoyed preparing the family meals for holidays, making pies, candy and especially zucchini bread. Norma is preceded in death by her husband, James Harmon; a daughter, Katherine Harmon; son, Michael Harmon; brothers, Calvin Pope; W.H. Pope; Darrell Pope; sisters, Dorothy Huff; Betty Dean; Janie Pope and Ethel Bliss. She is survived by her son, Jim Harmon and wife Linda; daughter, Anna Hernandez; sister, Eletha Swisher and six grandchildren, Andrea Mareno and husband David; Joseph Harmon; Kevin Harmon; Stella Hernandez; Tiffany Hernandez and spouse Laura; Sara Hernandez; six great grandchildren, Jacob, Kaleb, Selena, Serenity, Juan, and Antonio.
