Pauline J. Murray, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on August 16, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society Nursing Home in Liberal, Kansas. She was born on June 26, 1932, in Stevens County, Kansas, to her parents William J. Sr. and Mary Jane (Kent) Heston and graduated from Hugoton High School in 1950.
For 22 dedicated years, Pauline served as the head cook at Pioneer Manor Nursing Home. She loved to play to the Piano and Organ for various occasions in Hugoton.
She and James Alfred Murray were married on December 26, 1949 in Hugoton, Kansas. He preceded her in death on June 27, 2010. To this union were three children, Paula, Patricia and Wayne.
Outside of her career, Pauline found joy in crocheting, earning her the affectionate nickname of "the scratcher lady." She attended a lot of Craft Fairs. She cherished attending Hugoton High School basketball and football games, where her support for local sports always resonated with fellow fans.
Pauline loved going on her Saturday shopping trips with her daughters and grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Wayne Murray, a brother, William Heston Jr., a sister, Gerldine Grantham, a niece, Jackie Grantham and son-in-law, Edward Cowser.
Survivors include, two daughters, Paula Cowser, Patricia Zellner and husband Louis Jr.; daughter-in-law, Joy Lewis and husband Russel all of Hugoton, KS.; 4 grandchildren, Candy Boyster and husband James; Trea Zellner, Eriel Lewis and Keshia Sena; two great grandchildren, Christopher Boyster and Danielle Boyster and other relatives and friends.
Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, 10 a.m. at Hugoton Cemetery, Hugoton, KS.
Among her proudest accomplishments was the deep love she possessed for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Pauline's legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know and love her. Her spirit, generosity, and the warmth she brought to those around her will never be forgotten.
