Richard Lee Greene, a beloved husband, father, and rancher, passed away on December 5, 2025, in Hugoton, Kansas, at the age of 86.

Richard was born on May 13, 1939, in Grand Junction, Colorado, to Charles Edgar and Lucille (Watts) Greene. Throughout his life, he was known for his devotion to family, and his love of nature and work.

Richard and Carolyn Josephine (Main) Greene were married on November 7, 1958 in Dodge City, Kansas.

Throughout his career as a rancher, Richard embraced a profound love for leather work and horses. He dedicated his life to the values of perseverance and hard work, leaving a lasting impact on those who had the privilege of knowing him. His proudest accomplishments were his family, a testament to the love and nurturing he offered throughout his life.

Richard was a member of the National Rifle Association and actively contributed to Pheasant Heaven charities, reflecting his commitment to the community and the outdoors.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carolyn Greene of Hugoton, Kansas; four sons, Duane Richard Greene and wife Zeta of Rolla, Kansas, Donald Lee Greene and wife Jamie of Laramie, Wyoming, Dudley Shane and wife Malinda of Tomah, Wisconsin, Dee Burk Greene and wife Melinda of Poolville, Texas; a brother, Robert Greene; Lake Kickapoo, Texas two sisters, Beth Dawson and husband Edward of Louisburg, Kansas, Margaret Schneider of Melborn Beach, Florida; and nine grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends who adored him.

Richard's memory will be cherished by those who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brothers, Charles Greene Jr. and Roger Greene, and his sister, Janatha. Each of these relationships shaped the man he became and left an indelible mark on his life’s journey.

A memorial has been established for Pheasant Heaven Charities in care of Robson Funeral Home, PO Box 236, Hugoton, Kansas 67951.
