Richard David Wright, a devoted family man and skilled carpenter, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, in Wichita, Kansas, after enduring a few challenging weeks with his health. He was born on June 30, 1951, in Dodge City, Kansas, to Arthur David and Elva Lee (Frazier) Wright. Richard's life was marked by dedication, craftsmanship, and a deep love for his family.

A proud graduate of Garden City High School, Richard furthered his education by obtaining an associate’s degree, laying a foundation for a career that reflected both his skill and attention to detail. He was a carpenter by trade, working alongside his father in the family business, Wright Construction. His meticulous nature made him highly respected in his work, where precision and care.

Richard married Debbra (Debby) Wright on June 16, 1973,  sharing a lifelong partnership built on love and support. Together, they raised a family that remained at the heart of his life. He was a loving father to his two daughters, Brandi Walck and her husband, Lance, and Jaclyn Vargas and her husband Jesse, all residents of Garden City, Kansas. His devotion extended joyfully to his eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to his later years.

Beyond his professional and family commitments, Richard pursued his passions with enthusiasm and vigor. He found great pleasure in fishing, archery, hunting, and following the excitement of NASCAR Racing. These hobbies provided him with moments of relaxation and joy amidst a busy life.

Richard's legacy is also marked by the loving relationships he nurtured within his community and family. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Justin Richard Wright, whose memories he cherished deeply.

Memorial has been established for Wildtrust Program in care of Robson Funeral Home, 620 North Main St. Garden City, Kansas 67846. Make checks payable to Wildtrust Program. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Robson Funeral Home in Garden City, Kansas, and on Sunday, May 17, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 18, at 10:30 a.m. at Robson Funeral Home, Garden City, and burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery, Garden City.

Richard David Wright’s memory will be treasured by his surviving wife, daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
