Tonya Laynette Schmidt (Batey)

Tonya Laynette Schmidt Batey, born June 3, 1973, passed away suddenly on
November 29, 2022, in Hugoton, Kansas, Tonya battled Lupus and a variety of physical
(and other) challenges throughout her life.

Tonya had a creative spirit that she shared with those near and far. She was a hard
worker at all her endeavors. Her hobbies included collecting little things, doing “word
searches” and cooking. Her tender and loving heart led her to help and love people
endlessly. She will be missed by all her family and friends.

Survivors include Tonya’s parents, Carolyn and Chester Schmidt (Nashville, TN); her
son, Joey Jolie; her brother, Chad Schmidt and wife Pam, along with Tonya’s nieces
Emerson Schmidt and Mary Clark Schmidt (Franklin, TN); and many other relatives and
friends.

There will be a memorial service held in Nashville, TN at Tonya’s childhood church
home at a later date.
