Tracie Kay (Sleeper) Bowker

Tracie K. (Sleeper) Bowker, 68, passed away Sunday, August 30, 2026, at BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.

Tracie was born October 31, 1957, to William Eugene Sleeper and Grace Pansy (Craver) Sleeper. She grew up in the Elkhart area and was a member of the Yarbrough High School Class of 1975.

On July 6, 1975, Tracie married Warren Chester Bowker in Elkhart, Kansas. Together, they shared many years of life, family, and memories before Warren preceded her in death.

Tracie was a woman who believed in working hard and giving her best to whatever she set her mind to. She furthered her education through vocational college, becoming a massage therapist, and later continued her education to become a pharmacy technician. Tracie worked at Morton County Hospital for more than 20 years, faithfully serving her community until her retirement. Her strong work ethic, determination, and motivation were qualities that remained evident throughout her life.

Tracie had a special love for horses and life on the farm. For several years, she owned and operated a horse-drawn carriage that she used for weddings and funerals, combining her love of horses with the opportunity to be part of meaningful moments in the lives of others.

She also enjoyed creating stained glass, traveling, spending time with her dogs, and being outdoors on the farm. Above all else, Tracie treasured her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandson held an especially important place in her heart, and time spent with those she loved was among her greatest joys.

Tracie was a strong and motivated woman with a deep faith in God. Whatever she endeavored to do, she approached with determination and strength. Her love for her family, her faith, and the many memories she created throughout her life will continue to be cherished by those who knew and loved her.

Tracie is survived by her granddaughters, Sharmin Hicks and companion Dylan Jimerson of Richfield, Kansas, and Ashlyn Hicks and companion Nathan Jaramillo of Springfield, Colorado; great-grandson, Stephen Keith; son-in-law, Walter Hicks and wife Sam of Elkhart, Kansas; brothers, Allen Sleeper and wife Terri of London, Missouri, and Bruce Sleeper of Liberal, Kansas; sister-in-law, Pam Sleeper of Lubbock, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Eugene and Grace Pansy Sleeper; husband, Warren Chester Bowker; daughters, Taren C. Hicks and Amelia S. Bowker; brother, Earl Sleeper Sr.; parents-in-law, Rosie and Warren Bowker Sr.; and nephew, Earl Sleeper Jr.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Robson Funeral Home, 120 Grant Street, Elkhart, Kansas.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Elkhart, Kansas. Burial will follow at Richfield Cemetery in Richfield, Kansas.
