Vern Beavers, 90, of Pierceville, Kansas passed away Monday, October 23, 2023 at his home. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 25 at Robson Funeral Home, 620 North Main Street, Garden City, KS. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, October 26th at Pierceville Federated Church. Vern will be laid to rest in Pierceville Cemetery immediately following the service. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the church or to American Gratitude, 01806 E. US Hwy 50, Pierceville, KS 67868.
Vern was born September 13, 1933 to the late Layton and Ollie Mae Beavers in Enid, Oklahoma. He attended high school in Owasso, Oklahoma before being drafted into the U.S. Army. Vern served as Military Police before being discharged in 1955. Vern returned home and went to work with his father building grain elevators which brought him to Pierceville. While working he met a young lady, Claudette Husband, at the diner he frequented. Vern and Claudette were married on June 9, 1957 at the Pierceville Federated Church. Vern managed the Christensen Grain elevator for over 30 years. In 1987 he started Beavers Game Farm, LLC. He was an active member of the North American Gamebird Association where he served 2 terms as president. Vern also served 15 years on the Ingalls School Board. Vern enjoyed amateur racing in various classes; his race car was always number 25 which he was proud to hand down to his son and eventually his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Vern is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Eldon Irle and Jerry Wayne Beavers. He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Claudette Beavers; his children, Tom Beavers and wife Kelly; Cheryl Armstrong; Brian Beavers and wife Beth; a brother, Bobby Lee Beavers; sister, Irlene Mae Dick; grandchildren, Kale Beavers; Tiffany Richmeier; Nick Beavers; Cooper Beavers; great grandchildren, Gannon Mohler; Bentlee Beavers; Demi Jo Beavers; Madelyn Richmeier and Charlee Richmeier
