Vicki Jo Barkdoll,70, passed away on May 18, 2026, at the Garden Valley Nursing Home in Garden City, Kansas. She was born on November 3, 1955, in Tribune, Kansas, to William Joseph and Eva Louise (Wallace) Montgomery. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and a spirit that embraced everyone she met.

She completed her early education at Tribune High School before advancing her studies by earning an Associate’s degree in General Studies from Garden City Community College. A woman with a warm heart and kind soul, Vicki was known for her genuine affection, always expressing that she loved everyone around her. She had a passion for collecting elephants and Elvis Presley memorabilia, and she found joy and solace in crocheting, a craft through which she shared her creativity and care.

Vicki was married twice in her lifetime. She first wed Michael Eugene Zimmerman on January 1, 1972. Following his passing, she later found companionship with Edward Leonard Barkdoll Jr., marrying him on June 22, 1986. He too preceded her in death. After these profound losses, Vicki’s enduring legacy lived through her greatest pride and accomplishment: her children and grandchildren.

Her family held a special place in her heart. She is survived by her son, Travis Zimmerman, and his wife Becca of Mobile, Alabama; her daughters, Melinda Zimmerman of Holcomb, Kansas; Monica Griffin and her husband Dana Vogts of Sublette, Kansas; Michelle Eikenberry and her husband Trenton of Garden City, Kansas; Rebecca Tyler and Sean of Sublette, Kansas; and Ashley Smitherman and her husband Jared of Garden City, Kansas. Additionally, Vicki’s brother, Frank Edward Montgomery, of Las Vegas, New Mexico, grandchildren, Caeden, Adysen, Nathan, Amelia, Oceanna, Cedies, Creede, Alex, Harley, Kaylee, Devin, Emily, Chance, Aspen, Hannah, Kaleb, JayLee, Asher, and Madilyn; 8 great-grandchildren remain a part of the family she treasured. She also leaves behind many other relatives and friends.

Vicki was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her sister, Effie Marie Fox, whose memories she carried with her throughout her journey. After being moved to a nursing home for rehabilitation, Vicki suddenly passed away, leaving a profound void in the hearts of all who knew her.

The family will gather to honor her life and say their final goodbyes at the graveside service on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. (MDT) at Greeley County Cemetery, Tribune, Kansas.

Vicki Jo Barkdoll’s legacy is one of love, family devotion, and the simple joys she found in life. She will be remembered with deep respect and enduring affection by all who were fortunate to know her.
