She was born on January 13, 1938, in the serene town of Delores, Idaho. Vivian dedicated her life to family, community, and service. Her professional journey as a Dietary Aid at Cimarron County Memorial Hospital in Boise City was marked not only by her commitment to nourishing those in need but also by her innate ability to make individuals feel welcomed and valued.
Beyond her cherished family, Vivian had various interests that illustrated her vibrant personality. A passionate collector, she found delight in items such as snowmen, and her love for reading provided her with both solace and adventure. Her welcoming spirit and nurturing demeanor made her friends and family gravitate towards her, fostering bonds that will endure through the ages.
Vivian’s zest for life was matched only by her profound love for her family. She is lovingly remembered by her survivors, which include her two devoted sons, Wesley Dean Hughes, who is married to Charlene, and Steven Chad Hughes, alongside his wife Misty. Her legacy continues through her daughter, Janet Lynn Hughes-Stanhope, her cherished sister, Carol Powers, and the ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy. Affectionately called "Granny," her proudest accomplishment was embodying the love and care that only a grandmother can offer.
Vivian was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her adoring husband Bob, her cherished son Bobby, her loving sister Leona Show, her brother-in-law Vernon Powers, her dear son-in-law David Stanhope, her precious nephew John Dexter. Their memories linger in the hearts of her family, casting a profound light on the moments they shared.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. and Friday, November 22, 2024, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., at Robson Funeral Home in Elkhart, Kansas.
A funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2024, at 3 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Boise City, Oklahoma, followed by her interment.
