Wade Leon Robinson, 63, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2026, following a courageous battle with cancer and heart disease.
Wade was born on October 6, 1962, in Independence, Kansas. At two and a half months old, he was adopted by Mervin and Betty Robinson of Garden City, Kansas, who lovingly raised him. He was an active, happy child with a natural curiosity and a love for music. Around the age of six, his parents gave him a toy guitar, igniting a passion that would stay with him throughout his life. Though left-handed and never formally trained, Wade taught himself to play by turning a right-handed guitar upside down and backwards, eventually becoming an accomplished guitarist. He even spent a short time playing with a band in Texas.
Wade was first married to Joyce Diehl, and together they welcomed two children, Christina and Brandon. He also became a loving stepfather to Jason. Later, Wade married Holly Hawkins, and they shared fifteen wonderful years. Through this union, he became a devoted stepfather to Talona Chavez, Misty Hawkins, Alicia Hawkins, and Jeffrey Hawkins.
Family meant everything to Wade. He was blessed with several grandchildren, including Sariah, Jaxton, McKinley, Dakota, Mason, Nolan, Willow, and twin boys, Colton and Carter. He also shared a special bond with his step-grandson, Jesse.
Wade loved visiting with people and was known for his quick wit and love of telling jokes. He never met a stranger and enjoyed making others smile. His kindness, sense of humor, and love for family and friends will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Wade is survived by his parents, Mervin and Betty Robinson of Garden City; his sister, Hollie (Jeff) Lyons; wife, Holly Robinson; daughter, Christina (Michael) Nelson; son, Brandon (Kendra) Robinson; stepdaughters, Talona Chavez, Alicia Hawkins, and Misty Hawkins; stepson, Jeffrey Hawkins; and several beloved grandchildren.
A book signing will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Robson Funeral Home in Garden City.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Christ in Garden City, with a private burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
