William "Bill" L. Green, a cherished member of the Garden City community, peacefully passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Common Spirit Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was 80 years old.
Born on January 15, 1944, in Ness City, Kansas to the loving parents Lewis and Mildred Green, Bill's life was one filled with compassion and dedication to his family and friends. In 1965, he married the love of his life, Barbara Russell, and together they embraced a life full of love and companionship settling in Garden City in 1968, Bill dedicated 15 years of service as a dispatcher for the Kansas Highway Patrol before venturing into the business world. From working at Beneficial Finance to ultimately establishing his businesses like Bill’s Pawn Shop and CashFast, Bill’s entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly.
Despite his professional endeavors, Bill's true joy came from simple pleasures like gathering with friends at McDonalds in the mornings for coffee or eagerly anticipating the pheasant hunting season with his closest companions. He also found delight in cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs and passionately supporting his beloved K-State Wildcats.
However, amidst his busy schedule and hobbies, Bill always prioritized his family. His kind heart and selfless nature were evident as he readily extended a helping hand whenever needed. Whether it was spending quality time fishing with his children and grandchildren or being a pillar of strength for those around him, Bill's love knew no bounds.
Bill was reunited in eternal rest with his wife Barbara on July 28, 1998; their son Travis; as well as his siblings Norman, Marjorie Horlick, Bobby Davis, and Luella Gray. He is survived by his son Shane Green and Ann Pattison; along with four cherished grandchildren: Camille Green, Connery Green, Mikey Perry, and Sharae Green.
The legacy of William "Bill" L. Green will forever be treasured by all those whose lives he touched. A celebration of his life will take place during funeral services at Robson Funeral Home in Garden City on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at 11 a.m... Visitation hours will be held from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Robson Funeral Home, Garden City, on Friday, June 28, 2024.
